Fluoride strengthens enamel and helps repair the earliest stage of tooth decay. A professional fluoride treatment is stronger than toothpaste and is applied in a few minutes.
Who benefits
- Children, whose new teeth are still maturing
- Adults who get cavities often
- People with dry mouth, braces, exposed root surfaces or gum recession
- Anyone with a higher risk of decay, based on your exam
What to expect
We dry your teeth and apply a varnish, gel or foam. It is quick and painless. We will tell you how long to wait before eating or drinking afterward, and what to avoid for the rest of the day.
Good to know
- Fluoride is most effective alongside brushing twice a day with fluoride toothpaste
- For young children, we advise a small amount of toothpaste: a grain of rice size under age 3, a pea size from age 3 to 6
- We will recommend how often you need it based on your risk of decay
